Apa Legacy Sustainability Initiative Launches Wealth and Empowerment in Benue South (WEBS), Supports 40 Beneficiaries with ₦200,000 Each.

The APA Legacy Sustainability Initiative has officially launched the Wealth and Empowerment in Benue South (WEBS) program, a five-year economic empowerment scheme designed to support small-scale business owners, including youths, women, farmers, and traders.

At a formal ceremony held at his residence in Otukpo, Hon. David Olofu, the initiative’s founder, disbursed ₦200,000 each to 40 beneficiaries, marking the second phase of the organization’s long-term commitment to sustainable development in the Benue South Senatorial District.

The program follows an earlier phase in November 2024, during which the initiative provided ₦100,000 each to 100 students across the nine local government areas of Zone C, as part of a five-year scholarship scheme. Speaking at the event, Hon. Olofu reaffirmed his dedication to empowering the people of Benue South, emphasizing that WEBS is structured to foster long-term economic growth.

      A Transparent Selection Process

Dignitaries and community leaders in attendance praised the merit-based selection process adopted by the initiative. According to Prof. David Salifu, Chairman of the Board, the recipients were carefully screened to ensure fairness and transparency, without any political or personal affiliations influencing the selection.

"Hon. Olofu's commitment to community advancement is evident in his consistent efforts to uplift the people of Benue South. The beneficiaries were selected purely on merit, ensuring that those who genuinely need support receive it," Salifu stated.

      Call for Wise Investment

Key speakers at the event encouraged beneficiaries to invest their funds productively. Chief Abba Adaudu, an Abuja-based businessman and chairman of the occasion, applauded Hon. Olofu for his dedication to economic empowerment. He revealed that he himself had benefited from Olofu’s generosity in the past, attributing his success to the support he received.

To further support the initiative, Adaudu pledged a ₦2 million donation, urging beneficiaries to make wise financial decisions and work towards becoming employers of labor.

Similarly, Dr. Jesse Adi, former Commissioner of Finance, Taraba State, commended Olofu’s visionary leadership, stating that he embodies the qualities of a leader who should be encouraged to take on larger roles in governance and development. Adi contributed ₦500,000 to the APA Legacy Sustainability Initiative and challenged recipients to align their business strategies with the vision of the program.

An Initiative for Economic Growth, Not Politics

Addressing concerns about the motive behind the initiative, Chief Odeh Ageh, former Commissioner of Information and National Orientation, emphasized that WEBS is not a political tool but a genuine effort to promote economic self-reliance.

"This initiative is a catalyst for economic growth in Benue South. Dr. Olofu is not just giving handouts; he is teaching people how to fish. This program has the potential to lift many young people out of poverty and prevent social unrest," Ageh noted.

A Broader Commitment to Education and Empowerment

The WEBS program aligns with the larger mission of the APA Legacy Sustainability Initiative, which has consistently supported education and economic growth in Benue South. In a previous initiative, Hon. Olofu established a ₦50 million Education Support Fund to assist students from Zone C in tertiary institutions.</p.

With the successful rollout of WEBS, the APA Legacy Sustainability Initiative continues to position itself as a key driver of sustainable development in Benue State, fostering a future where individuals are empowered to build businesses, create jobs, and contribute meaningfully to society.
