Chairman’s Opening Remarks
The Chairman congratulated the members on their appointments and urged them to be diligent and impartial in their work, aligning with the vision of President Hon. David Olofu. He reminded members of Dr. Olofu’s vision and encouraged them to fully support it. The Chairman also informed the members that the President had deposited funds in a bank to commence the scholarship scheme for indigent students in the Benue South Senatorial District, which includes Ado, Agatu, Apa, Otukpo, Ohimini, Okpokwu, Ogbadibo, and Obi Local Government Areas.
Aim and Objectives
• To increase access to education by providing financial assistance to low-income families, ensuring they have access to quality education in the Benue State Senatorial District.
• To ensure that students, including those with special needs, from financially disadvantaged backgrounds have the necessary financial resources for their educational pursuits.
• To create sustainable funding solutions that continuously support educational initiatives and drive long-term improvements, ensuring students have opportunities for academic success.
• To implement initiatives aimed at reducing the school dropout rate and encouraging students to complete their education in the Benue South Senatorial District.
Mission Statement
To provide equitable access to quality education for students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede their academic success.
Beneficiaries of Indigent Student Scholarship:
Categories of Students:
a. Orphans
b. People with special needs (disabilities)
c. People in dire need
Distribution Percentages:
a. Orphans - 30%
b. People with special needs (disabilities) - 20%
c. People in dire need - 50%
Total - 100%
Categorization of Institutions:
The board deliberated and resolved that the following categories of institutions would be eligible:
a. Public Universities in Nigeria
b. Public Polytechnics in Nigeria
c. Public Colleges of Education.
Allocation Percentages for Institutions:
a. Universities - 50%
b. Polytechnics - 30%
c. Colleges of Education - 20%
Total - 100%
